A 45 minute drive from Bahrain on the 25 km King Fahd causeway which runs across the Arabian Gulf brings you to the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. This region is very different to the rest of the Kingdom and in many places feels similar to Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
The main traffic into this region comes from the many foreigners who work in the oil and gas sector as the Eastern Province is the epicentre of the country’s oil wealth. A stopover as part of Saudi Arabia itinerary in this region is however worth considering.
