The oldest city in Georgia, Savannah began its present history when 18th century European colonists arrived at Yamacraw Bluff on the Savannah River, forming what would be the last British colony of the “New World.” For over 150 years, the city thrived as a bustling port and served as a hub for import and export, thus connecting Georgia to the rest of the world.
