Stunning ocean and sunset views overlooking beautiful Kailua Bay on Hawaii's Big Island await you at Royal Kona Resort. Our hotel is ideally located just a short walk to Kona town with its fine dining, shops, historical sites, and activities.

Room

At the heart of the Royal Kona Resort is the Ali'i Tower, which is home to the open-air lobby, Front Desk, and Don the Beachcomber restaurant. The Lagoon Tower, on the South side of the resort, overlooks the private beach area and saltwater lagoon. It also houses a beauty salon and self-service laundry. To the North, closest to Kailua Kona, is the Bay Tower in which the massage and spa center can be found.

Magnificently set overlooking Kailua Bay and the Pacific Ocean, the Royal Kona Resort's three guestroom towers offer beautiful mountain vistas or magnificent ocean views. Our guestrooms feature a fresh, contemporary decor and large outdoor balconies to enjoy the views.

Ocean Revive Sunrise

Our corner king rooms are located on the front corners of our three guestroom towers and feature breathtaking, panoramic views of Kailua Bay and the Pacific Ocean from inside your guestroom. Take advantage of the wrap-around balcony to view all the activity taking place on the bay.

Ocean Revives Sunrise

Kailua Bay Suites offer views of the ocean from inside the room, and are located on each floor of the Alii Tower. Each suite consists of a parlor with sofa sleeper and a separate open concept bedroom.

Royal Suite

Located in each tower, Royal Suites offer full panoramic ocean views. Each suite consists of a parlor with sofa and separate open concept bedroom with a private wrap-around lanai facing the ocean.

Dining

Designed by renowned Tiki architect George "Pete" Wimberly, the soaring, sheltering roofline of the resort's signature Don the Beachcomber Restaurant perfectly sets a tropical theme. Hawaiian music wafts through the dining areas, flowing past the shaded, waterside tables. Don't be surprised if you are treated to views of spinner dolphins, or starting in late October, migrating humpback whales whose breathtaking aerial performances bring the whole bay to a standstill. The dining is as spectacular as the view - a fusion of Asian influence, European technique, and the finest, freshest local ingredients inspire the mouth-watering flavors at Don the Beachcomber Restaurant and Mai Tai Bar.

Don the Beachcomber

Impressively set right on the water's edge with stunning ocean and sunset views from every seat, diners will enjoy the Polynesian retro-tiki chic atmosphere at Don the Beachcomber. Flavorful award-winning cuisine, legendary cocktails and our friendly and courteous staff enhance your dining experience. Open daily for breakfast. Dinner hours and days of week vary seasonally.

Recreation

The Big Island of Hawaii, simply called the "Big Island" by locals, is almost twice the size of all the other Hawaiian Islands combined. In fact, so large is the island that it includes all but two of the entire world's climactic zones, making it unrivaled in the breadth of activities it offers. Despite the incredible diversity to be found throughout the island, many agree that the historic seaside town of Kailua-Kona, the setting for the Royal Kona Resort, is the island's most sought-after location. From shopping to dining, snorkeling to sunset cocktails, we are certain you'll agree.

Swimming Pool & Saltwater Lagoon

Enjoy a relaxing day at the resort's swimming pool conveniently located next to Don's Mai Tai Bar featuring cool cocktails and snacks, or head over to our private saltwater swimming lagoon, a great spot for kids and beginner snorkeling.
