There are those that return from their Dubai holiday claiming that Dubai is no longer the bargain destination for Gold that it used to be.

They will moan and rant about how the chase for western modernity has led to inflated prices and a loss of the charm that Dubai was once famous for. We whole heartedly disagree. Gold in Dubai can still be a bargain- as long as you are prepared to haggle for it.

And atmosphere is important, because not everyone at the Gold Souk is there to buy. In fact for many people on holiday in Dubai, visiting the Gold Souk is an afternoon of window shopping and dreaming. So even if you are not in the market for bling, a visit to the Gold Souk will be a memorable day out during your Dubai holiday.

If you have just won the lottery, or simply want to bag some jewellery bargains then you must detach from your emotions. The Gold Souk offers virtually every style and design of jewellery in the world. You are after all at the largest Gold Souk in the Middle East and one of the largest in the world. Shop around and get familiar with the prices. Negotiate hard, but then walk away. This will allow you to understand the real prices that jewellers in the souk are prepared to sell for. When you do feel confident and familiar, go in for the kill. Go back to the outlets where you have negotiated the best deals and see if you can get any more off by flashing your cash in front of the vendor- by now you should know whether you are getting a good deal.
